About

Who We Are
Our Story
Exodus was founded in the year 2012 by Nickson and Mukonda or the Banda family (Mr. and Mrs. Banda and Children Israel and Daniel) as a step of obedience to the Lord’s call to give back to society by serving the needs of Children. The initial idea was ‘the Lord has blessed us as a family, what can we do to give back to the Lord’ and Exodus become the way of giving back to the Lord. It was a pure step of faith and was GOD’s Vision in the sense that it was divinely directed. The Bandas felt seeing innocent children suffering and doing nothing about it was an act of irresponsibility and a sign that there was not enough care given to these kids.
Through prayer and planning, the vision of Exodus was born. The biblical term Exodus was used as it represented the “way out” or the journey of Israelites out of a place of suffering or bondage into their promised land. Exodus became the vision of taking Children (Orphans and Vulnerable Children) out of suffering into the “Promised Land” – a place of hope and fulfillment.
Nickson (Clergy, Trainer, Community leader, Educator) and Mukonda (Enrolled Nurse, Psycho-social and HIV-AIDS counselor, General Counselor and Christian leader) combined efforts and resources to adopt a local compound called Chainda in the city of Lusaka – Zambia and started reaching to kids through the help of various care givers.
Over the years, God has used various well-meaning people to support the vision of Exodus Children Foundation. Now Exodus has its own facilities located 11 kilometers eastern direction of the town of Chongwe at Mulenje Village. It took Hearts, Heads and Hands to birth Exodus and its operations from a humble beginning to its current state and ALL Glory be given to the Lord. As Exodus, our kids define our mission and purpose.

For I was hungry, and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ Matthew 25:42-45
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27
“Speak up for people who cannot speak for themselves. Protect the rights of all who are helpless. 9 Speak for them and be a righteous judge. Protect the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-10
